Sexual Harassment: Complying with the New Law October 18, 2018

Please join us for an informational seminar on how to comply with the New York state new Sexual Harassment Law. The law is set to take effect on October 9th, 2018. All New York state based employers are required to have all of their employees trained in sexual harassment by January 1, 2019 and done once a year every year hereafter. Also required is a written sexual harassment policy complete with complaint form. Amanda Lowe with the law firm of Phillips Lytle, LLP will be here to explain what you will need to do to bring your company into compliance. There is no charge for this seminar, but reservations are required and space is limited. The New Tax Law: How It Affects You and Your Business November 01, 2018

This is an informational seminar and review of the most substantial tax law change in over 30 years. The new tax law affects both businesses and individuals. Some business highlights include: * Change in the corporate tax rate * Changes to net operating loss carryback and carryforward rules * Limitations on the deductibility of interest and entertainment expenses * Loosening the rules for using the cash method of accounting * Changes in how capital assets are depreciated or expensed * New 20% deduction for certain pass through income * Increased use available for completed contract accounting Some individual highlights include: * Changes in adjustments involving moving expenses and alimony * Limitations on the use of business losses and the deductibility of state and local taxes as well as mortgage interest * Elimination of most miscellaneous deductions and personal exemptions * Increase in standard deduction * Change in tax rates and income brackets as well as the AMT exemption * Change to ??kiddie tax?? reporting and rates There is no charge, but reservations are required.
